MaineBoats.com wins Interactive Media award
I generally don't like to talk business at MWR, but I'm pretty pleased about this.
I recently worked on an extensive website project with Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors magazine, along with my good friend Jamie Bloomquist. Jamie and I have teamed up on a number of projects, he was the designer for the Collins for Senator site as well. We just learned that MaineBoats.com won an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Interactive Media Council (click to view)
Jamie is an incredibly talented person, he did a fantastic job pulling this project together and I'm proud to have worked with him on this. Other winners included CNNMoney.com, Cosmopolitan.com and New England Home Magazine’s website, NEHomeMag.com. Here is Maine Boats' press release:
MaineBoats.com a Winner in 2007 Interactive Media Awards Competition
CAMDEN, ME — Maine Boats Homes & Harbors, Inc., today announced that its Online Edition (www.maineboats.com) has received an Outstanding Achievement in Website Development Award from the Interactive Media Awards™. The honor recognizes that the site met and surpassed the standards of excellence that comprise the web’s most professional work. Maineboats.com was honored specifically for excellence in the magazine category.
The judging criteria included overall design, usability, innovation in technical features, standards compliance, and content. In order to win this award level, the site had to meet strict guidelines in each area — an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each quarter.
Brides.com, a Conde Nast publication took top honors with the Best in Class award. Other notable recipients of the ten Outstanding Achievements awarded include: CNNMoney.com, Cosmopolitan.com and New England Home Magazine’s website, NEHomeMag.com.
Jamie Bloomquist, Director of New Media of Maine Boats Homes & Harbors, said, "Launched in 2007, our online edition features web-only content that is a perfect complement to our print magazine and our show. It is an honor to have our work recognized by the Interactive Media Awards and to be in such impressive company with the other winners."
About Maine Boats Homes & Harbors
Maine Boats Homes & Harbors, Inc., publishes a print magazine and an online edition, and produces an annual August boat and home show, all with a focus on the unique lifestyle that is living, working, and cruising the coast of Maine.
Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors explores some of the world's finest cruising grounds, talks with Maine's renowned yacht designers and boatbuilders, sails aboard Maine vessels from dinghies to power yachts to schooners, relives historical events that shaped Maine's character, uncovers the mysteries of Maine's coastal ecology, views the work of Maine's fine visual artists, tours coastal Maine's beautiful homes and gardens, and samples delicacies from the kitchens of Maine's gourmet chefs. The pages of the magazine and website demonstrate that the Maine coast is more than just magnificent scenery. It is rugged (and sometimes quirky) people, rich history, traditional boats (and modern ones too), interesting architecture, and good food. No other magazine covers the coast of Maine this way; the emphasis on boats with lovely sheerlines holds universal appeal.
